Hi honey!!  today was our first day of teaching.  It was great.  The
students were so friendly and eager to learn.  Most of them are women, only
a handful of men.  Most of them teach middle and high school.  They enjoyed
seeing pictures of you, Nikki, our house, our families, etc.  They asked
many good questions about the pictures.  My legs are tired from standing all
day, I will need to wear one of my pairs of shoes with better support.
Today is Nikki's birthday so I am sending her happy dog thoughts.  Last
night we walked around the area surrounding the school.  We ended up at a
McDonalds eating french fries, but I couldn't manage to communicate well enough
to get some salt.  Oh, well.  A heavy thunder storm came through about 1
a.m. last night with some good lightening and thunder and a heavy downpour.
then, At 4 o'clock this morning, Marlene and I awoke to the sound of
spraying water.  Marlene got up and went to the bathroom and said, "Sally,
someone is in our shower!"  (she was still half asleep and didn't know what
was happening--we laughed a long time about that one). It ended up that no
one was in the shower, but the water heater had broken and was spraying
water all over the bathroom like a geyser. She stood there dumbfounded until
I told her to turn off the main water valve.  She did that and we went back
to bed, with two inches of water on the bathroom floor (it would have been
more, but the floor has drain in the center of it).  It was an exciting
night. I'll write again soon.  I can't wait to get mail from you.  Love,  Sally
